A few people have asked me the same question since I opened the doors to my Sardine club: why sardines? So let me tell you the whole story:
How the Sardine Club started
It all started with a Skillshare class on drawing sardine tins, which I made because I love drawing sardines and sardine tins (I live in Spain, and it’s a big part of the culture here!). After reaching hundreds of students, it hit me that I am clearly not the only person who loves drawing sardine tins and fish. There’s actually a theory going around on socials that if you’re ever in a creative block, you should just draw a fish. And it works! It’s silly, but when you stop overthinking the subject and just follow along, drawing happens naturally.
Watching all those student projects come in, I realized what I actually wanted wasn’t another pre-recorded class, it was a place where we could make things together, in real time. Somewhere to share our work, cheer each other on, and draw live, together.
Drawing Together
So that’s what The Sardine Club is. Every month I share new Procreate brushes & a theme, and from there, we build together in live sessions, shared prompts, and a Gallery full of everyone’s take on the same starting point.

The fun fact that named the club
Here’s the detail that ties it all together: sardines never swim alone. They move in enormous schools, all together. I think that’s exactly how creativity works too. It’s better, braver, and a lot more fun to make things alongside other people instead of by yourself.
What members have been making
The gallery is filling up fast! Here are a few things members have made during the Sardine Summer month. We used my Sardine Summer Procreate brushes & color palette, and a sardine tutorial. Later on in the month we also did a few live sessions together; we created sardine tins together, made a summery patchwork design, and had fun with a few extra prompts.

Sardine Club FAQ
It’s a live creative community where 400+ members draw and design together, built around a monthly brush-and-palette drop. It grew out of a Skillshare class on drawing sardine tins, and it’s built on the idea that creativity is better shared.
No! Sardines (and fish in general) are just the starting theme: the real focus is drawing with Procreate, loosening up creatively, and making things together.
The Sardine Club is free to join! All monthly drops are free, and live sessions are free to join. You can purchase a monthly recordings bundle if you miss a live session or want to rewatch in the classroom.
It runs on Skool, where you’ll find the live sessions, the monthly brush and palette drops, and the project Gallery.
My Skillshare classes are self-paced lessons you work through on your own. The Sardine Club is the live, ongoing community that grew out of them; new monthly themes, live drawing sessions, and a shared Gallery, rather than a single one-time lesson.
