Teaching, Perfectionism & Progress: My Creative Journey Featured on Chasing Sunday Pancakes

Recently, I did an interview with Kayla from Chasing Sunday Pancakes about my journey as an illustrator and art teacher. In this article, I talk about how I went from simply loving drawing as a child to building a creative career that includes teaching on Skillshare, running workshops, and hosting art retreats in Spain. Here’s a little bit of what I shared:

Teaching wasn’t something I initially planned to do online. I started by teaching in-person workshops, and later transitioned into creating classes on Skillshare. At first, the idea of filming and teaching online felt intimidating, but over time it became one of the most rewarding parts of my practice.

Today, I create classes focused on illustration, lettering, and Procreate techniques, helping students build confidence and enjoy the creative process. It’s my favorite thing to do!

A few key things I learned from my journey:

  • Confidence comes from doing, not from waiting until you feel ready.
  • Small creative habits add up over time. Perseverance really pays off!
  • Imperfections can add character to your work and make it feel more authentic.
  • Creativity grows when you allow yourself to experiment and make mistakes.

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is letting go of perfectionism and focusing on progress instead of “perfect” outcomes.
